Porsche Unveils New Cayman Coupe!

The 2007 Porsche Cayman, powered by 2.7 liter, 245 hp boxer engine, arrives in July.

Porsche announced today that the Cayman line would be expanding to include two seperate models. Joining the Cayman S in showrooms later this summer will be the new Cayman, which is powered by a Boxster-based 2.7-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine. With 245 horsepower and 201 lb-ft of torque on tap, the Porsche Cayman runs from 0-62 mph in 6.1 seconds and has a top speed of 160 mph.

The standard 5-speed manual can be upgraded to a 6-speed with the addition of Porsche's Active Stability Management (PASM). In addition to that, a 5-spped Tiptronic S is also an option. Outside, the Cayman rides on unique 17" alloys and has a few other visual cues that differentiate it from its more powerful brother. The rear-mounted badge drops the "S" designation, and the brake calipers and front spoiler tips are black on the new model. A single-opening trapezoidal center tailpipe is specific to the Cayman.

Inside, the usual list of luxury and convenience appointments are available to the buyer.

The Porsche Cayman hits UK and Irish showrooms on July 29. No official word on when you can get it here in the U.S., but I'd have to guess we'll see it right around the same time.

You can get more info at the new Porsche Cayman minisite, which launched today.
