Tom Kristensen driving the 2006 Siemens Audi A4 DTM
When he's not busy winning Le Mans titles (he has seven of them), Tom Kristensen drives the Siemens Audi A4 DTM car for Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline. This weekend at the DTM season opener in Hockenheim, Tom K started from 9th position and battled through traffic to finish 2nd. His Audi Sport teammate, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, also worked his Veltins Audi A4 up the field from the 8th spot to join Tom on the podium as the 3rd place finisher. The Hockenheim win went to Mercedes-Benz driver Bernd Schneider in his Vodafone AMG C-Class DTM.
Before the race, Kristensen gave fans a treat by doing donuts at both ends of Hockenheim's main straight in a 420-horsepower 1938 Auto Union D (below) during a demonstration lap. Incidentally, that Auto Union car, along with a few of it's 1930s bretheren, will be appearing
at the Goodwood Festival of Speed
this July for more tire-smoking mayhem.
